Hemorrhoids are one of the more painful ailments you can get. They afflict more than 40% of the adult population at some point in their lives. One of the first symptoms you might experience is an itching sensation in the anal area. Hemorrhoids are caused most often by constipation which makes the suffer push too hard and this causes blood to be forced into the veins around the anus. If you have hemorrhoids it is a good idea not to strain too hard when you have a bowel movement but instead take your time. If you force yourself to have a bowel movement you could end up stretching the skin in the area which contains the nerve endings. As a result the area can become very tender and itchy; but scratching it will prove to be more painful than the itch itself!
A burning sensation is another symptom that can indicate that you have hemorrhoids. The sensation comes from a collection of nerve endings when the skin is stretched from the pressure. Also you might notice blood on your toilet paper or even pain when you have a bowel movement. In the more severe stages, hemorrhoids can fall out like a lump outside your anus. You may not be able to detect hemorrhoids if you have internal ones so check with your doctor to make sure.
There are a number of great resources available for treating hemorrhoid symptoms before they become a problem. This may include herbal remedies to help with loosening stool and fiber intake. The best time to heal hemorrhoids is before they become painful, and that is done simply by noticing the most common hemorrhoid symptoms, treating the body (and possibly the area directly), and drinking a lot of water.
